Sunkissed Doodles is dedicated to continue producing high quality puppies that serve meaningful purpose. We thrive in matching potential therapy/companion opportunity pups, donated service pups, and simply the best family pets. To continue maintaining excellence, we need to use various dogs that hold the qualities we aim and look for in our Dams and Sires. Producing puppies with high drive and extreme learning capacity requires pairing the perfect Dam and Sire every litter. We strive to use Dams and Sires that compliment each other so well rounded pups can be produced. For this purpose, we have chosen to use a guardianship program.
- WHAT IS A GUARDIAN HOME? This is a home that we carefully approve, to raise and care for one of our breeder dogs we are considering in our program. The dog is the families forever pet but will come to us (Once approved by health testing, structure, and temperament) to stud a litter or whelp a litter. There is a respectful and mutual contractual agreement made between Sunkissed Doodles and the guardian family. In most circumstances, the family will receive a puppy we choose from another reputable breeder or a pup Sunkissed Doodles produced and decide to keep back for the program.
- WHY DO YOU NEED GUARDIAN HOMES? We need guardian homes to ensure that all our parent dogs are living their best quality pet life when not here breeding and whelping pups. It is not possible to give the time and attention to more than the three dogs that reside in our home. Our dogs are family and each one gets quality attention, lots of play, travels with us, and proper training. To continue our purpose, we will occasionally need to add and expand to our breeding lines. This means various dogs are brought in to be considered for our program. We believe in giving each dog the quality pet life experience as we give our own dogs that live in our home. To accomplish this, we use very qualified and approved homes that respect our requirements, support our purpose, and simply love the dogs. We believe well balanced and trained dams and sires will produce the dispositions we desire in our pups. With the individual attention our guardian homes can provide, helps develop the goal traits we require in our parent dogs. Guardian homes allow us to breed the right way for our program and give the time and attention all dogs deserve!
- WHAT IS THE BENEFIT AND COST TO BEING A GUARDIAN HOME? The benefits of being a guardian home is that you will receive a good quality pet that was carefully chosen for the best attributes for the breed. With Guardian homes raising our top quality breeders, Sunkissed Doodles can keep providing pups that change people's lives or go on to help with therapy and service work. We do not charge for our guardian dogs, but we do require a commitment deposit for a couple of reasons. One reason we have experienced by requiring a commitment deposit is our guardian applicants are more serious about our journey together and dedication to our program. Second, not all our guardian dogs will pass to our standards to go on to breed. In that case, the commitment deposit will then be a pet purchase price (which is still significantly less than a non guardian pup). The commitment deposit is returned over time of the contract until paid back in full. So, essentially you end up with a great quality dog for FREE! But we don't just stop there, we also compensate our guardian homes as a HUGE appreciation for the dedication to Sunkissed Doodles. Without our guardian homes, we could not continue to produce our amazing doodles!
There are more details involved with being a guardian home that can be discussed further if you are interested. We highly encourage you ask LOTS of questions and do research on guardian homes also. It is a big commitment, but can be highly rewarding.
